Drag an item to a bag in the column on the left to put that item in the first empty space in that bag. Stackable items can stack up to 250 per inventory space. Most crafting materials, junk, and containers are stackable. To split a stack in two, Alt + Click and drag the item to an empty inventory space.
After storing, you can also get to your crafting materials at any bank on the crafting materials tab on the left. Click the gear icon on the top right of your inventory and "desposit all materials". This sends all crafting materials and many collectable items to your bank automatically. Also when you are at a merchant there is a 'sell junk
Go to your bank, scroll down to the bottom, and see if you have a lock symbol you can click on that prompts you to spend X gems on another bank expansion (there is a confirmation, it's not automatic). If you do, you can buy more, if not you're maxed.
I don't see why you would spend money on more collection space.. when a material is full take it out and put it in your regular stash and you have room for another 250 in your collections tab.. how many materials do you exactly have more than 250 of that you could justify spending gems on more space? if it's less than 40-50 different kinds, i'd say you should rethink it.
If you want to buy a Bank look at r/GW2Exchange /. A Guild Bank should be worth about 2,5 Character Slots (2000 Gems / 600 Gold) as you could save the same amount there. A Character can carry account bound stuff and a guild bank is accessible on multible accounts. Special Tip: Wait for Discounted Character Slots.

Anyway, if you're in Kryta, the easiest way to access to a bank without having to load Divinity's Reach is to go to Claypool, on the South west of Queensdale (the human's first map) StarCitizenGaming.
