BSD of Peterboro built a Hornet with 100 odd bhp still with the Hornet engine. There's certainly no need to drop a completely new engine in. Change the head over for a CBR600F unit, including cams and carbs and you're most of the way there. The difference between the two engines is also only around 10bhp in any case.
